Make a difference in health research – Join IPAN’s Consumer Network!
The IPAN Consumer Network is a way for people of all ages and backgrounds to share their lived experience to help inform research for use in the real world.
Do you want to make a difference in health research? We’re looking for new members to join our IPAN Consumer Network.
The Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN), Consumer Network is an opportunity for everyday Australians to share their ideas and thoughts on the design, development and delivery of physical activity and nutrition research.
IPAN Director Jo Salmon said members would have their skills, knowledge and experiences matched to existing and future research opportunities.
“We’re inviting people with lived experience across a range of health, social and environmental settings to apply to join our Consumer Network,” she said.
Opportunities include helping to identify new ideas for research, suggesting ways to recruit participants for a study, reviewing and commenting on study materials and data collection methods, and helping share research updates and findings with the community.
Professor Salmon said it was increasingly important to listen to those outside the research sector and incorporate their knowledge and experiences into research.
“Hearing and learning from everyday Australians who are directly affected by chronic conditions is invaluable to ensure our research is relevant and benefits those who need it the most.”
Who can join the IPAN Consumer Network?
If you:
- have or are at risk of an illness or health condition
- care or have cared for someone with an illness or health condition
- work in an area relevant to our physical activity and nutrition research – such as clinicians, teachers, nurses and allied health professionals, or
