Improving management of debilitating spinal pain
Spinal pain presents the greatest cost to Australian society of all types of disease. Yet a small proportion of those who suffer from spinal pain generate the majority of the costs to society. The aim of this PhD is to examine ways to better help these people in managing their pain and assist their return to work.
Applications are invited for a PhD student to work under the supervision of Dr Clint Miller and Dr Patrick Owen.
This project will investigate the effects of behavioural and exercise interventions in a multidisciplinary team in people with severe limiting lower back pain.
This project would suit applicants with a background in exercise science, exercise physiology, physiotherapy.
Applicants should have a minimum of upper second class honours or the equivalent as outlined on the research degrees and master’s entry pathways page. An academic background in the musculoskeletal system is preferred, and previous research experience and experience with medical imaging modalities are desirable.
We will work with suitably qualified applicants to apply for scholarship funding.
