Physical activity engagement by LGBTQI+ people
The overarching aim of this project is to examine the physical activity levels of LGBTQI+ people and to identify what factors are associated with their activity.
Research examining physical activity engagement by LGBTQI+ people typically focuses on barriers to and the discrimination they face when participating in sport. In comparison, little research has focused on how frequently LGBTQI+ people engage in physical activity and sport, and what factors may be associated with their physical activity engagement. Such information is needed to develop strategies and policies that aim to support LGBTQI+ people to engage in active, healthy lifestyles to benefit short- and long-term health.
