Understanding the health benefits of seeds

This project aims to understand the role of seeds intake on adults’ body weight, adiposity, and metabolic health.

Current major national and international dietary guidelines encourage the consumption of plant-based foods. Nuts are good sources of essential nutrients and research has demonstrated several health benefits associated with nut intake. The consumption of seeds is becoming more common and seeds have very similar nutrient profiles to nuts. However, the health benefits of seeds remain unknown. Therefore, this project will examine how the intake of seeds are associated with body weight, body fatness, and metabolic health indicators at a population level.
