We investigate drivers of active living and design; and test and deliver real-world solutions to help increase physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviour across the lifespan.
Our work drives effective policy and practice, creating positive change in communities worldwide.
Our research focus
Our research seeks to improve health and wellbeing across population groups and in the workforce, by understanding, developing and implementing preventive measures and exploring how lifestyle changes can reduce risk and improve quality of life. Our multidisciplinary team combines expertise from health promotion, education, sport science, human performance, public health, physiology and epidemiology to design scalable interventions in three key areas:
Research groups
Physical activity and sedentary behaviour from infancy to young adulthood
Developing evidence-based solutions that support healthy growth, development and lifelong habits, from infancy through to young adulthood.
Built and natural environments for healthy living
We explore how better-designed environments and public spaces can inspire physical activity, healthier eating and stronger communities.
Optimising workers' health
Focusing on generating evidence and practical solutions that improve the health, capability, and longterm sustainability of the workforce.
