REVAMP study
The Recording and EValuating Activity in a Modified Park (REVAMP) study was a natural experiment that examined the impact of the installation of a play-scape on park visitation and park-based physical activity compared with a control park.

This three-year project (2017-2020) identified the relative importance of park features that attract children (8-12 years), teens (13-18 years) and older adults (65+ years) to visit parks, and to be active and social during their time in the park.

Supporting participation in sport and active recreation during periods
More than half of people who menstruate have missed one or more training sessions for sport and recreation due to their period, Deakin research found.
For this project, researchers examined how menstruation affects participation in sport and active recreation, and worked with local and community sporting organisations to design strategies to overcome barriers to participation.

Enabling men coaches as allies for women and girls
Men play a significant role as coaches of women and girls as players and athletes across all levels of sport.
This research sought to examine the understanding of gender responsive coaching and associated practices among men coaches, as a first step towards developing as an effective and impactful ally for women and girls. Read about the research here.
Effective anti-racism approaches for women and girls in community sport
Understanding the experiences of women and girls who have experienced racism in community sport can help teach us how to overcome this significant barrier to their participation.
This research investigated how women have experienced racism in community sport. It explored the benefits of creating positive and welcoming community sport environments for women and girls from culturally and linguistically diverse and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
